TPO23-Declination of Yellow cedar

The lecturer and the passage discuss hypothesis of the declining the yellow cedar. Although the passage claims that some hypothesis are caused the diclination of this treem the speaker refutes these ideas through a number of reasons which will be described in this report.
First of all, the passage points out that the powerful attack of the bark beetles could be the reason for this declination, the speaker, in contrast, rejects this idea by claiming that generally most of these trees have more insects and they have a powerful chemical matter which maintaning them. In addition, the bark beetles usually attack damage trees which will be dying either with or without their attack.

Furthermore, unlike the passage which states that the brown bear clawing to eat tree bark could be a treat since it might weak yellow cedars and destroy them, the speaker argues that virtually the brown bears have been extincted. Their population have been declining since years ago and they cannot be the cause of yellow cedars declination.

Finally, although the passage says that climate change might be a reason for this degradation due to the fact that cedar's roots start to growing in late winter which might damage them, the professor disagrees by mentioning that many trees die in lower temprature and more trees can die in versa vice condition. He also adds that this region has a relatively temprate weather and it does not affect the cedar's roots.

Througout the reasons which have been described above, the passage's claims are rejected by the professor.
