The table below gives information about the problems faced by children in two primary schools in 2005 and 2015.
The table illustrates the proportion of children suffering some educational difficulties in 2 different elementary schools over a 10-year period starting from 2005.
Overall, it is immediately clear that school A solved these problems more successfully than school B over the period. In addition, students in both schools had difficulty in concentrating in lessons the most.
Looking at the table in detail, in 2005, concentration in lessons hindered students in both schools the most, at 40% in school A and 15% in school B. While students from school A found following instructions the most challenging, at 42%, this problem was the second least difficult to students from its counterpart. Problems including verbal expression of ideas and listening skills were at a mid-range of difficulties in both schools. The 3 remaining problems belonged to the least difficult group in both schools.
10 years later, school A succeeded in handling all problems with the exception of reading ability and handwriting. Concentration on lessons, following instructions and verbal expression of ideas witnessed a significant decrease ranging from 14% to 24%. By contrast, school B failed to help its students with a mild increase in the proportions of all problems. The most difficult problems its students suffered included verbal expression of ideas, concentration on lessons, following instructions and listening skills, at around over 10%. Surprisingly, the percentage of spelling which was the least difficult subject in 2005 in this school experienced a double increase after a decade to surpass those of handwriting and reading ability.
