The pie charts below illustrate the proportion of total water usage by five sectors in Sydney, in two years 1997 and 2007.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of water used by the food industry was largest in both years. Besides that, the proportion of total water usage by service industry almost doubled from 1997 to 2007.
There was a small decrease in the percentage of water usage by food industry from 48% in 1997 to 41% in 2007. Although the proportion of this industry had dropped 7% for ten years, it always occupied the highest fraction in both charts. Besides, the percentage of total water used by manufacturing and building industry also slightly fell from 15% and 5% in 1997 to 11% and 2% in 2007, respectively.
In contrast, the proportion of total water usage by service industry increased dramatically from 13% in 1997 to 26% in 2007. Because of this jump almost double in ten years, the part of total water used by this industry gained the second largest in the pie chart in 2007. The percentage of water usage by household use also grew slightly 3% from 19% at the beginning of the period.
