The best way for a society to prepare its young people for leadership in government, industry, or other fields is by instilling in them a sense of cooperation, not competition.
In our growing world where everything is becoming more and more social it is important that each and every one of our young people has a sense of cooperation. Everyday as we walk out of the house we step into a world where we have to communicate with other people in order to get things done and therefore we need to prepare our young people for leadership roles by teaching them that cooperation is a key virtue to have. One reason why cooperation is important is because cooperation can led to a better more productive workforce when workers feel they are being heard by their leaders. Another reason why cooperation is important is because it can led to new innovative ideas from each member of the workplace. Moreover, if individuals are cooperating with one another progress is sure to be made as disputes may led to arguments among leaders and their workers, which may cause a standstill in the workplace. In any given work force the virtue of cooperation and not cooperation is important to instill in our young people so progress can be made, so they feel they are being heard by their leaders and so new innonative ideas can be produced in the workplace and outside the workforce.
To begin, as more and more projects in our day to day lives require team work, from work projects, to school projects, to even helping a friend pick out their clothes young people need to be taught cooperation when in leadership roles so they can teach their employees they care and want to listen to their advice. For example, in the classroom, a professors is often the leader of a class up to 500 students. This professors not only has to lecture to the class but would have to listen and cooperate with the students as well as his fellow staff members in order to teach effectively. He could take suggestions from his students as well as his fellow workers to help him improve his classroom. As each one of these suggestions is made each student or class member feels they are heard and the leader or professors is being a good leader by cooperating and taking the students suggestions. If he was standoffish and didn't taken the students suggestions there could be a chance the students would feel they are not being heard and this could led the professor to keep the classroom the same, not cooperating in anyway to make sure the students voices are heard, which could make the students become uninteresting in listening to the lecture as punishment for the professor not listening to their suggestions. In all the professor and students both loss out because the class remains the same and no one is cooperating with the other to improve it.
Furthermore, Following the view that projects are becoming more and more apart of our lives, it is also important for students and young individuals to learn the virtue of cooperation when in leadership roles so that new ideas can come to fruition. For example, in a workforce if the employeer takes the role of calling meetings and asking employees how to better the workforce the employees, during this process new ideas for a better workforce can be created. As each of these new ideas comes about employees can cooperate with each other to implement these new ideas. As each new idea is impleted into the workplace the workplace becomes a better place because of the cooperation among the workers. In contrast to this, one idea that may go against my position is if the workers are cooperating and do implement these new innoative ideas into the workforce, but as these new ideas come to fruition they do not better the workplace in any way or they may actually cause a loss in profit or some other negative aspect within the workforce. Therefore, in this case new ideas created by cooperation actually led to a worse workplace than a better one. So, it is important to make sure that when cooperating as a leader with your workers on their ideas that you are not to much of a pushover to the point you implement all ideas and may make the workplace worse than better.
Moreover, as more and more ideas come out in the workforce these ideas can lead to progress if the leader is willing to cooperate with his or her workers and listen to their ideas. If the leader is adamant and set in their ways and does not listen to their workers this can create a standstill where no progress is being made. For example, lets say in the medical field researchers are working together to try and come up with the cure for cancer. If the lead researcher is willing to listen and cooperate with his or her workers the workers may be able to provide him with some ideas that he did not think about that could lead to some progress on finding the cure for cancer. As each of these new ideas is tried out one may eventually lead to the cure. However, if the leader does not cooperate and with his workers and he tries to be a doctinaire of the workplace, and he shuts down his workers ideas, this would led to a standstill where no progress is made to find the cure for cancer. This is because the leader is coming up with ideas that he can think of and his way of thinking is going to stay the same leading to no change in the way he creates the drugs or makes new developments in the field to try to cure cancer. However, each of his workers has different ideas and may think or be able to come up with a new creative way of thinking that he may not have thought about. If this idea is implemented it can lead to a change in the workforce as one of these new ways of thinking may be the answer to solve question. Through cooperation, based on the leader listening to his workers change could be made to cure cancer by listening to each of their unique ways of thinking.
To conclude, young people need to learn the virtue of cooperation so that workplaces and schools and other places of business can become better. This could occur as leaders cooperate with their workers because workers will feel heard, they will come up with new ideas that can make the workplace better and they can cooperate and make progress in the workplace, rather then coming to a standstill as each worker tries to be top leader and does not want to cooperate with the others.
