painting which is ascribed to Rembrandt.
The reading and the listening materials have a debate on a painting which is ascribed to Rembrandt. The writer puts forward 3 main reasons that is refuted by following speaker.
First, the writer suggests that there is a mismatched point in dressing style of the woman in the picture which claims the painting is not drawn by Rembrandt. Wearing a peasant hat with a fur collar is a conflict that shows this painting is not belong to Rembrandt. The speaker views this issue from an opposite angle. According to him,the analysis of the fur collar paint declares that it is added to painting after 100 years of that first painting which meanes some one may wanted to increase it's value. As a result, the painting belongs to Rembrandt.
The second point that offered by writer is that the face of the woman is brighter as if, a source of light illuminates it from below but existing of collar should prevent from this phenomenon. Knowing the skill of Rembrandt does not allow us to deduce this fault is made by a famous painter. On contrary, the speaker casts doubt on this proposition by saying that the individual whom added the fur collar to painting is responsible to this constancy. The real painting had not that collar and bright face is sensible for the woman.
Last, the writer opposes that known Rembrandt's work are painted on wood panel and existing some pieces of wood glued together in this painting manifests that it is not belong to the Rembrandt. On the other hand, the speaker asserts that adding some pieces of wood is due to increasing the value of that master piece by an other person, and the original work is done on a single piece of wood.
