the process of generation of electricity
The chart illustrates how electricity is generated at a hydro-power station.
Overall, it is observed that it is a cyclical process. It starts with the collection of water in a dam followed by an opening of a valve which creates speedy flow towards the turbine to generate electricity.
Now turning towards the details of steps, it is witnessed that at first water gets accumulated in the reservoir on which a dam is constructed. Then, the valve which plays a vital role is opened during the day to allow water to flow towards the reversible turbines. After hitting the turbines, power is generated which passes through power lines to the national grid. Finally, the national grid supplies electricity to villages, hospitals, and other towns.
The remaining water flows to the low-level reservoir and during the night it is pumped back to the high-level reservoir to follow the same step the next day.
