The reading and the conversation both discusses about the induction of smart cars in our society. The passage supports the idea of introducing self driving cars while the person in the conversation disagrees with the article. She presents three opposing reasons to make her point.
Firstly, the article mentions about the advantages of smart automobiles by stating that there introduction would reduce the occurence of accidents significantly. In the support of it passage mentions that accurate sensors incorporated in the car will help preventing accidents. The person in the conversations rebuts against this claim by stating that the powerful or smart devices are bound to make mistakes. And then further elaborates by stating the accidents will be of higher magnitude as the cars are suppossed to move together.
Secondly, the reading presents that the current traffic problems will be diminshed by the use of smart vehicles. The reading explains its solutions by stating that smart cars will be running at very high spped thus reducing the congestion in the town. The speaker roots against this claim by saying that the higher speed will result in more comfortable journey as a result more and more people will start driving their cars this will cause further congestion of roads and ultimately negate the effect of driving at increased speeds.
Finally, The reading contends that cost of driving smart cars is quite lower compared to its counterpart. the article suggest that overall cost of maintaining the car that is the cost which are incurred because of fault in breaks and tire repairs will be mitigated. The lecturer disagrees with it asserting that the other cost of accommodating sensors will be very high and this will result in no reduction in the prices of the car.
The above mentioned claims and then disapproving arguments are presented in the reading and listening.
