The line graph illustrates the percentage of people with the age of 65 and above living in three different countries between 1940 to 2000 and the anticipated rate from 2020 to 2040 The countries taken into consideration are the USA, Sweden, and Japan.
Overall, When the USA had the largest population in 1940, Japan had very fewer people living there also it gradually declined till 1980. Though the population rate fluctuated during the period, it is anticipated to have the largest population in Japan by 2040 than the USA and Sweden.
In the 1940s when USA and Sweden reached the population 9% and 8% respectively, Japan had only 5%. Meanwhile, Sweden curbed its population from 14% to 20% between 1980 to 2020 also Japan had a gradual rise from 4% to 8%, but the USA showed its stability till 2019 at 14 %.
With regards to the data, it is expected to have a steep rise in the number of people living in these countries over 20 years. Japan will reach the first position with 27% and Sweden with 25% in second place in 2040. Though, the USA raised its population after the steady-state from 14% to 23%, which will be in the third position according to the analysis.
