The graphs below show the age structure of a European country from 1901 to 1981 and a prediction for 2021.
The four pie charts illustrates the age contribution of european citizens in 1901, 1941, 1981 and 2021.
Generally, the total population is predicted to increase during 120 years period. Life-span of human kind is typically improved as anticipated with 6% of people who aged above 85, and the groups of middle-age also rise with the expectation at 15% in 2021.
Specifically, the total population was estimated to climbed significantly from 38,225,000 in 1901 to 52,335,000 in 1941. The figures of these two years are the same with only 1% of people whose age is over 85, 4% of the middle-age, and 95% of people younger than 65.
However, there is a disparity in those figures in 1981. Particularly, the number of the overall european’s population accounted for 67,180,000, which is nearly two times higher than the number in 1901. The majority of population was still people under 65 years old, which took up 83%, although such percentage decreased dramatically in compared to those percentage recorded between 1901 and 1941. The proportion of people who aged from 65 to 85 was tripled into 13% as well as that proportion of citizen whose age over 85 is quadruped in the same time.
Additionally, in 2021, it is forecasted that the overall population of the european will be increased to 87,658,000 with nearly 80% young populations, 6% of elderly, and 15% of the rest.
