Tpo 25 Q1
The passage explains excavated vessel produced of clay and a copper cylinder surronding an iron rod. At the begininig of studying the clay, the archeologist suggests ancient electric battery for these objects; however, there was many arguments to disagree with this function.
To indicate the disagreements, reading claims three reasons which the lecturer casts doubt on them.
First and foremost, the reading states that there are no conductors or wires in excavated location of these objects and the electricity produced with this ancient battery neeeds to be conducted by attached metal wires which there was not any trace around the excavated location of vessels; whereas, the lecturer explained that local people would had used other materials as a conducter which is may be overlooked or throughed out by archeologist in excavated fields or nearby areas.
Moreover, the texts states that the jarslook like copper cylinders in the Seleucia's ruins were used not only for generating electricity but also holding scrolls of sacred texts which were found during more excavation accomplishments; however, the professor argues this reason by recent analysis of the vessels' inner walls. The remained of some liquids on the inner walls shows probable electricity producers liquids in the vessels.
Finally, the reading posits, in ancient time, no device was rely on electricity and batteries, and the electricity producing vessels was useless completely. In the contrast, the lecturer illustrates some possible usage of the vessels' mild electricity power in sensation and shock inducement as invisible power for magical affairs and medical purpose such as releifing pain and healing muscles.
