Outline why you have selected your chosen three university courses, and explain how this relates to your previous academic or professional experience and your plans for the future. Please do not duplicate the information you have entered on the work experience and education section of this form (minimum word count: 100 words, maximum word count: 500 words)

I have decided to apply for the master of Remote sensing and Geographical Information System(GIS) program at any of the University of Southampton, UCL(University College London) and Aberystwyth University for 2020 intake: All these three chosen universities have an international standing for the quality of their researches and teaching methods which am sure will full fill my present requirements. I accept as true that with my strength of mind, internal motivation, independence and communication skills I can successfully complete any of the three programs I have chosen.

This program has a direct relationship with my previous professional of a bachelor degree in wildlife management that I have acquired at the College of African Wildlife Management. In the wildlife sector, remote sensing and GIS are inevitable :

Wildlife inventory in protected areas.in Tanzania, we have a lot of protected areas like Serengeti, Kilimanjaro National Park, and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the use of images taken by aeroplanes, drones, and satellite may simplify the inventory of wildlife resources.

Fire management in protected areas can be enhanced by the application of GIS and remote sensing skills. Remote sensors predict weather parameters, like pressure, humidity, temperature in the area. Therefore by understanding the amount of moisture present in the area may give insights to wildlife managers to make clear plans for fire.

Tourism in protected areas can be enhanced. Tourism officers may use GIS skills to locate and access different tourist attraction, tourists may enjoy their tour in protected areas without getting lost by the use of GPS to route their way from and to. Moreover remote sensing and GIS application may improve tourism by the use of drones to take tourists to the attractions sites.

Construction of infrastructures in protected areas. Remote sensing technology help to identify very sensitive areas that might be a risk in conservation if the construction of roads, lodges, airstrips and employee facilities are allowed in those areas. But through the technology of GIS and remote sensing, it is very easy to set out areas that are friendly for the construction.

Going on the other side, the application of remote sensing and GIS in the conservation and management of wildlife in Tanzania is needed. Unluckily, the application of remote sensing and GIS is not well established in many protected areas and this is due to lack of expertise in this profession. Having such an honourable past in remote sensing and GIS, I have decided to join one of these three universities for their world-leading with outstanding practical teaching skills, something am sure that it will have a great impact on the Tanzanian future especially expertise in remote sensing and GIS.
