The line graph demonstrates how much of 4 different types of food namely chicken, beef, lamb and fish were consumed by a European nation over the course of 25 years starting in 1979.
Overall, the expenditure on beef, lamb and fish experienced a downward trend, with a exception of chicken. Besides, fish consumption always registered the lowest figure throughout the period.
It can be seen from the graph that the expenditure on beef stood at about 220 grams per person per week in 1979, was the highest. The figures for lamb and chicken were lower, at 150 grams and under 150 grams respectively. The consumption of fish was the lowest, at about 60 grams.
Throughout the period, chicken consumption is the only one which kept increasing to reach the highest figure at roughly 250 by the year 2004. By contrast, the consumption of lamb and fish decreased gradually to around 50 grams and about 40 grams respectively in 2004. Even though the amount of beef which was consumed was about 240 g, the highest point in 1983, this fell steadily to just over 100 grams in 2004.
