The two maps illustrate the changes that a book store has undergone from 2000 until now.
Generally, the book store has witnessed remarkable changes, centralizing around the reallocation of space for different types of books and the addition of a seating area and a café.
The 2000 layout of the store shows that a section for travel books and another for new books were situated near the entrance. A service desk was put in the left corner of the room, close to the new arrivals. These features are still kept the same at present.
However, in 2000, fiction books took up most the space, spanning two shelves, one to the left of the entrance and one at the back of the store. Arts, hobbies and cookery books each occupied a shelf at the center of the store while non-fiction works were placed across the room. However, the area for fiction was reduced dramatically, as the genre now shares space with art, cookery and hobbies and is replaced by books in non-fiction in the innermost shelf. This freed up more space for 3 sets of tables and chairs in the middle of the store and a café in the area where non-fiction was displayed
