The maps below show a book store in 2000 and now. Summarise the main information by selecting and reporting the main features, and makes comparisons where relevant.
The two maps illustrate several changes done to the layout of a bookstore between 2000 and present time.
In general, the restructuring of the store is observed in the relocation of different types of books and the addition of a new seating area.
In 2000, the entrance was next to a bookshelf for travel, another for new books and a service desk. Opposite the travel section and at the back of the store were situated two sections for works of fiction. Books for art, hobbies and cookery were placed on three respective shelves in the middle of the store while non-fiction materials were found on the opposite side.
At the moment, the section for travel and new books as well as the service desk are still positioned at the same place. The most radical change, however, is related to fiction, of which space is reallocated to accommodate the books in art, hobbies, cookery on the shelf across the section for travel books. This freed up more space for the installment of 3 sets of tables and chairs in the middle of the store. Interestingly, non-fiction books have been moved to the then-fiction area at the back of store, whereas its past area is now used as a café.
