Question : Summarise the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they case doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
The reading and the lecture are both about Steller sea cow extension. The author in the reading feels there are three reason for this problem. However the professor challenges all the points of the reading passage considering it unconvincing
To begin with, the reading author claim that the sea cow decrease because they are being hunting by the native population. The lecture rebust this mentioning that, the sea cows features. Was a huge animal very heavy almost 9 meters of large. Therefore the professor say, a couples of this animal was enough to fed the entire villa so the native don't need a lot to survive.
Secondly, According to reading section,The availability of food and ecosystem was the reason for the extinction. The professor reject this argument and state that. It is not a sign of the ecosystem was the reason for the decline. Was a plenty of food for them.On the other hand there is no report of decrease in the others animals like wholes. Is less probable that the ecosystem cause any damage in this case
Finally, In the last point , the reading passage believe that the europeans traders was the others reason for the extinction. the lecture pasists that , in his point of view. The population of sea cows started getting smalls by 1700 before the european came to the land. The european traders do not affect this population. The professor claim that, the european came to the island the animals was already almost extinct, so, wherever affect the sea cows was not in relation with the traders. This is because how professor opposes the reading section.
