Although the lecture support the idea that Eco-tourism -also named Green-tourism- is an entirely good thing, the professor inform as that it has not just benefits. As everything in life, Eco-Tourism has good and bad aspects.
It is true that these new form of tourism produces less negatives effects than the regular way of tourism, for instance, less environmental stress than building a Resort. However, places for Eco-Tourism (for example, National Parks), needs infastructure, as roads, and its construction causes some damages; as an example, she talked about air and water pollution.
The reading says that the Eco-tourism encourages conservation of natural areas, but the professor indicates that there is a market for animals in danger and the products that derivates form they, besides plenty of illegal hunting that keep alive these market.
The author believes that Green-tourism provides jobs and better live conditions to the local people. However, the professors discuss these idea, by giving examples of cultural pollutions and explaining how the pay is low and there is a lot of foering people looking for and oportunity.
Eco-tourism has advantages, compared with regular tourism, but is not the perfect solution.
