In developed countries, as many girls as boys register to study in school, while the number of girl students in developing countries declined to 72% and 82% in 1990 and 2000 respectively.
A similar trend was seen in tertiary school. There were more female students than males in developed countries, by 5% in 1990 and 12% in 2000. On the contrary, in developing countries, females were much lower than males, by 34% in 1990 and 25% in 2000.
