Some people believe that eventually all jobs will be done by artificially intelligent robots.
What is your opinion?
We presently live in a fast-paced world and technological advances have revolutionized almost every facet of life. No area seems to have felt this impact like employment such that people are already speculating that before long, every available work will be robotically-assisted. While this may sound feasible for some menial jobs, work that requires complex skills and advanced cerebral inputs will always require humans for execution.
Robots may indeed have some roles to play in the implementation of tasks that require simple instructions. In other words, elementary functions such as opening doors in offices, copying materials from one form to another and so on can be performed by droids. For instance, some new generation companies have taken advantage of the cost-effectiveness and time-saving advantages machines provide to run their day to day tasks. For example, the number of cashiers in many Nigerian financial institutions has fallen significantly since the introduction of automated teller machines.
Without a doubt, not all jobs can be done by automation and this is where robotic functions are limited. Firstly, human intellect is completely required to practice medicine, a vast field that needs not only a lifetime dedication but also keen interest. It is unfathomable how a machine will be relevant here. Besides, machines cannot reproduce themselves to perpetuate the human race. This is because a machine can never become a human till the close of the age. Lastly, when there are psychological disorders such as emotional imbalance, specialists in the field as psychiatrists are often needed to provide the necessary care. It seems unlikely that machines can function in this capacity.
To conclude, that machines will ultimately usurp man and take over all his work seems a mere fantasy. While bots may be useful in elementary jobs as dispensing money and controlling entrances to premises, they are likely to be found wanting in the aspect of care, human procreation and emotional support. 317 words,
