Task 1: The chart below shows the percentage of people who ate five portions of fruit and vegetables per day in the UK from 2001 to 2008.
The bar chart gives the proportion of men, women and children consuming five portions of fruit and vegetables each day in the UK for 7 years, from 2001 to 2008.
Overall, there was the highest percentage of women who ate fruit and vegetables per day, while children had the lowest proportion in eating fruit and vegetables throughout the years. Furthermore, a significant increase in the percentage of people consuming fruit and vegetables can be seen obviously.
Although the proportion of women who ate fruit and vegetables started at just 20% in 2001, it increased dramatically for 5 years, to about 35% in 2006 before decreasing slightly to 30% in the last given year, 2008.
There was a significant increase in the percentage of children consuming fruit and vegetables to the peak at about 26% in 2007, after being constant at around 12% from 2001 to 2003. However, in 2008, it failed back to about 1% less than it used to be in the previous year, at 11%. Similarly, the rate of men who ate fruit and vegetable remained for the first 3 years, at around 17%, and started rising up to the highest percentage, at 27%, in 2006 and 2007 before going down to about 26% at last.
