The graph below shows the percentage of part-time workers in each country of the United Kingdom in 1980 and 2010.
The above bar chart illustrates the part-time employees working in the United Kingdom during the three last decades. In brief, all the countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, having at least 10% representative of part-time workers during the span, went through a moderate change of the worker composition.
England, Scotland, and Wales’s non-full-time labourer increased in percentage. In England, this minority segment stood at 25% of the total employment in 1980, and the number rose by 5% thirty years later. Then in other nations, an unnoticeable increase was witnessed by Wales shifting its part-time workers by only 2% in the same period, whereas Scotland’s part-time laborers had the highest hike amongst the rest; it started from the lowest percentage of 11% and afterward jumped by almost double in 2010 reaching 19%.
The rest country, Northern Ireland, became the antithesis of the three previous states. As opposed to those countries, this country’s part-time workers moderately declined by an inconsiderable percentage of 1% from 15% in 1980 to 14% in 2010. This drop was taken into account as the most minuscule percentage amongst the four nations in the United Kingdom.
