The chart below shows the expenditure of two countries on consumer goods in 2010.

The chart reveals how much money that people in the UK and France spent on five different categories of consumer products in the year 2010, measuring in the unit of pounds sterling. Overall, the spending on items in the UK outnumbered those in France, except for the category of computers and perfume. In addition, the average amount of money spent on cars was the highest while that for perfume was the lowest in both countries.

According to the bar chart, the figure for cars reached a peak of each country, at 400,000 and 450,000 pounds in France and the UK respectively. To regard the category of books, the money spent in the UK was higher by 100,000 pounds than the expenditure on France, 400,000 pounds compared with 300,000 pounds. In terms of the cameras, the UK’s value was over twofold France’s one, 350,000 as opposed to 150,000 pounds.

By contrast, the amount of money that people in the UK spent on computers and perfume was lower than that in France. In detail, the expenditure on computers was higher in France, nearly 400,000 in comparison with 350,000 pounds in the UK. Regarding the category of perfume, the French spent 200,000 pounds on this item while the figure for the British was approximately 140,000 pounds.
