The table below shows statistics about the top five countries for international tourism in 2012 and 2013.
The table compares the five highest ranking countries in aspects of number of tourists and expenditure from tourism during the period of two years, starting from 2012.
Overall, France was the most popular destination among five nations in 2012. However, USA’s revenue from tourism accounted for the highest number.
It is envident that 83 million holidaymakers stopped by France, while USA just received 66,7 million tourists in 2012. At the same time, the number of visitors available in Spain and China was well under 58 million, but just only 46,4 million tourists went to Italy. 2013 saw a rise of between 1 and 4 million visitors in each country, with the exception of China, which the figure dwindled by 2 million.
We can see from the picture above that the tourist revenue for USA increased from $126,2 billion to $139,6 billion over the two-year period. Eventhough France had the largest tourist number during the period shown, its spending from tourism just rose slightly by $2,5 billion, followed by Spain and Italy. Interestingly, China saw an increase in this figure of well under $2 million despite the declining number of tourists in 2012.
