The graph below gives information about the percentage of people living in Australia who were born in Asia, the UK, and other regions.
The given line graph shows data about the proportion of inhabitants settling down in Australia that were born in Asia, the UK and other areas between 1976 and 2011.
Overall, it is clear that while the total percentage and the portion of people coming to Australia from Asia and other parts of the world experienced an upward trend, that from the UK saw a decline over the period.
Taking a closer look, in 1976, just around 23% of people living in Australia came from other countries, which then dropped gradually until reaching just over 20% in 2001 before rising up to its peak of 25% in 2011. The proportion of people coming from other regions also witnessed a fall from around 11% in 1976 to around 8% in 1986. This figure then increased dramatically up to approximately 14% in 2006 before dropping by just about 1% by 2011.
Despite being the lowest one in 1976, at only about 3%, the percentage of people coming from Asia stably went up during the given period until becoming the highest figure, at exactly 15% at the end of the period. On the contrary, the figure for the UK, in spite of being the highest one at the beginning of the time span, underwent a considerable drop to only 5% in 2011.
