Chorleywood is a village near London, whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the 19th century. The map below shows the development of the village.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the development of the village.
Until the establishment of the railway in 1909, Chorleywood, a village near London, has been observed to be sparsely populated from 1868 -1883, and has only shown a slowly climb to density in the following years beginning 1883 up to 1922.
Whereas the constructed railway in 1909 may have contributed to the steady increase in population growth in the village beginning 1922, the opening of the motorway in 1970 could have caused an additional influx of residents to the area. This period, from 1922 until 1970, saw the significant rise in village occupancy.
While Chorleywood has attracted more residents due to the railway and motorway, a gradual decrease in the population was evident from 1970 to 1994. This may be due to the increased mobility of villagers as they used the main roads, train and highways more and more. Because the former residents became increasingly mobile due to the ease in transportation, they may have begun to explore living in the neighboring places near Chorleywood.
