The line graph shows the percentage of New Zealand population from 1950 to 2050. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Given is the line graph contrasting the rate of New Zealand population during a 50-year period.
It is perceptible that the percentage of people in the age group of 0 to 14 and 38 to 45 leaped over the years, while the opposite was true for the 25 to 37-year-olds and the over-65s.
The two oldest age groups share a similar pattern in the proportion over the years shown. Starting at 25%, the rate of those aged 38 to 45 surged exponentially to its zenith of 48% in 1990 before moderating by 8% in the last year. Meanwhile, that of the oldest age group swelled to 70% from 60% within the first 40 years, which was followed by a diminution to its original figure in 2000.
When it comes to the other two age ranges, the population of the under-18s diminished negligibly in the vicinity of 5% during a 40-year period before soaring to 10% in the 2000s. In the interim, 20% was recorded as the rate of people who were between 25 and 37 years old in the beginning of the course. It escalated 5% a decade later and thereafter contracted 15% in the end of the 20th century.
