You are unable to attend a farewell party of a colleague at work. Write a letter to him/her. In your letter, you should:
-say why you can’t come
-give him/her your best wishes.
-suggest another time and place for you to meet.
Dear Rose,
Thank you for your extended invitation to the farewell party which you have booked on coming Friday.
Sadly, I'll not be able to attend the party because I have go to India to attend my sister's marriage. And, my presence is significantly important because I have to participate in certain marriage rituals which requires to be completed by a brother. I hope you understand the reason of my absence on coming Friday.
I'll miss working with you because you are not only an amazing team player but also a subject matter expertise in your specialization. I have learned a lot of technical stuff from you when we worked on a same project last year. My best are with you for your brighter future and new upcoming challenges in your new firm.
Nevertheless, we can meet later after I'll come back to Toronto. I want to give a farewell from myside, so, I'll take you to your favorite dine restaurant in the weekend after my return to Canada from India. I'll share the meetup details soon, once I'll book my return flight.
Hoping to see you soon after my holidays. Bye for now. Take care.
Yours faithfully,
Shwatank
