The line graph depicts the data about how the populations of India and China have changed since 2000 and the 2050 projection.
In general, the population of India will experience an upward trend while China will suffer a downward trend. In addition, in the first thirty years, the population of China has outnumbered India’s. However, this pattern will be reversed in the next twenty years.
Looking at the details between 2000 and 2030, we can see that China's population has steadily increased, reaching around 1.45 billion in 2025 and remaining stable at this level for the next five years. Similarly, India’s figures have soared to the same level as China’s, though it started at a position of 1 billion, which is much lower than China’s (1.25 billion).
Between 2030 and 2050, whereas the figure of India will continue to soar and peak at 1,6 billion, China’s figure will decline significantly and consistently below 1,4 billion in 2050.
