The table gives information about the change in the percentage of attendants allocated to four secondary school types which are Specialist Schools, Grammar Schools, Voluntary-controlled Schools, and Community Schools over years.
From an overall perspective, it is clearly seen that the percentage of students who choose to attend Community Schools increased significantly. Meanwhile, a reverse pattern could be seen in the rest of the school types.
In 2000, Voluntary-controlled schools were the most preferable option as there was 52% of students chose to attend this school, followed by the figure for Grammar Schools with 24%. Specialist Schools and Community Schools shared the same lowest percentage which was 12%.
However, the period between 2000 and 2009 witnessed significant growth in the percentage of Community Schools attendants, reaching 32% in 2005 and 58% in 2009 which was the highest number compared to that of others. As a result, the percentage of attendants in the rest of the schools experienced a decline and the most outstanding data was 18% belonging to Voluntary-controlled Schools.
