The diagram below shows how ethanol fuel is produced from corn.
The diagram gives information about the process of making ethanol fuel from corn.
In general, there are eight steps in total, starting with collecting corn from fields and finally, ending with transporting ethanol fuel to the gas station.
At the beginning of the process, corn is harvested from the field after storing it in a large warehouse. After that, it takes approximately four hours to mill and cook harvested corn with water. Once it has been cooked, it then undergoes a process of fermentation which consumes 48 hours to complete.
After fermenting, the solid product is separated into the liquid which is purified to get rid of water for extraction of pure ethanol. And this process takes about 5 hours to finish, and the solid material ends up being a useful by-product of the process. Finally, ethanol fuel is stored before it is delivered to the consumers.
