warn him/her of mistakes students make when choosing accommodation
Dear Suraj,
I hope you are your family is doing well. Firstly, I would start with congratulating you on your big success of being selected for a full-time course in the reputed university. Ideally speaking, I am your senior now, just kidding!
Secondly, I am happy to help you with some suggestions on your house hunting as I still have few of my connections living near the campus. I stayed in a 3 BHK house in a room sharing arrangement. The living room was quite huge and spacious, while there were two washrooms, one kitchen, a beautiful backyard, and a small garden just besides the porch.
I would suggest you to consider visiting the places in person, since I feel the best way to select an accommodation is by looking for ourselves. Hence, I would recommend you to please start your house watching as soon as you are in campus. Though you can shortlist and talk to owners beforehand and plan your visit accordingly once you reach on the campus.
Additionally, from my experience I would like to warn you from the scamsters available on the facebook and other house renting platforms. Many of them are genuine sellers or owners of the house, but few of them are faking it. Sometimes in times of desperation we tend to pay advance amount before even looking at the place, please do not make such silly mistakes. Also, don’t look for places too far away from campus, hence loosing money on commute from home to college.
Wishing you all the best for your travel and hope to see you soon at the campus.
Best Regards,
Firdous
