The reading and lecture re both about the elevating trend on eco tourism in which tourist go into the woods and observe the scenario there. The author of the reading states that although they obtain certain experience nad insight, they are likely to degrade the surroundings. The lecturer disagrees. He mentions that eco tourism is the best way to flourish nation and attacks each of the claims made in the article.
First, the author begins by stating that even though ecologist are careful to great extent, they end up doing harm as soon as they step in wild knowingly or unknowingly. The professor believes there are flaws in the writer's position. He contends that indeed they do impact the environment yet there are in minimal amount not the harsh one.
Secondly, according to the writing, not only the natural landscape or plant life is degraded they do threat the wildlife species too invading in ambiance. For instance, polar beer in Artic are found to be affected by tourist while they are hibernating. They are prompt to distract waking or frightening them as they are sleeping or conserving energy. The speaker, on other hand points out that eco tourism is beneficial in preserving flora and fauna of host country. For example, whale watching rather than killing them protects them in environment.
Finally, the reading passage also notes that they devastate the habitat since they are susceptible to bare space for picnic, leaving eclectric wire that are used to power their camp and so on. These activities has seriously affected the natural habitat in a harsh manner. The professor rebuts this argument. He puts forth the idea that numerous developing nation are inclined towards deforestation for making their land profitable yet focusing on eco tourism will definitely aid them to make proper use of land in a more sustainable way.
As we can see, the author and lecturer holds conflicting views on advantage of eco tourism. The speaker effectively challenges the writer's argument.
