The chart below shows the changes that took place in three different areas of crime in New Port city center from 2003 to 2012.
The line graph gives figures for the changing rates of crime in the central city between 2003 and 2012.
All things considered, although there was a stable tendency in the number of car theft and robbery, the rate of burglary plummeted significantly, which means the inner city was under more protection.
As can be seen, there was a descending trend in the number of burglars breaking into city livers'houses. In 2004, the rate of burglary hit the top with nearly 3800 cases before sanking dramatically by 2500 incidents throughout a four-year period. From this point, the figures recovered slighly and remained under 1500 cases in the following years.
Secondly, the number of incidents in car theft and robbery fluctuated. Before reaching the bottom of 2000 incidents between 2006 and 2008, the rate of car theft remained unchanged, approximately 2900 cases. Since 2008, the number soon climbed back to the number of 2800 incidents. Unlike the two mentioned crimes, the rate of robbery in New Port city centre was quite low. Most robbers commited the crime in 2005, nearly 1000 incidents of robbery but soon fell to a low of only 500 cases in the next three years before rising again years later.
