The charts depict the proportion of households with electrical eqipment and number of hours of housework per household from 1920 to 2019 in one nation.
Overall, there was an upward trend in the percentage of electrical appliances and the opposite was true for the number of time devoted to housework.
As can be seen from the charts, in 1920m the washing machine ownership rate was 40%, whereas the figure for vacuum cleaner and refrigerator were 30Z% and approximately 2% respectively. 40 years later, however, the percentage of ownership of refrigerator climbed sharply to exactly 90% and became the highest. Meanwhile, there has been an gradual increase in the figure for the 2 latter to 70%. From this year on, the figure for washing machine dropped slightly to about 65% in 1980, then it peaked at about 75%. Regarding ownership of refrigerator, all households had at least 1 refrigerator from 1980 onwards when the owned vaccum cleaner rate rose to 100% in 2000
As regard to hours of housework, from 1920 to 1960, there has been a sharp decline from 50 hours per week in 1920 to 20 hours per week in 1960. From this year on, it decreased marginally and reached the lowest point of 10% in the last year.
