The bar chart compares five selection of subjects in terms of boys and girls studying at higher education levels in Canada in the year 2009. Units are measured in percent.
In general, the trend shows that boys were more interested in studying Social studies rather than Languages; meanwhile girls were more keen on studying Law courses than Engineering ones. Overall, social studies was the most studied subject for both boys and girls (about 67%).
The most popular course for female undergraduate students was Law. The percentage of girls studying Law far exceeded that of boys, with respective figures being about 37% and 26%. The proportion of female students who studied a foreign language was slightly higher than that of their male counterparts.
However, the number of male studying Social studies, medicine and engineering surpassed the percentage of female counterparts. Moreover, while around 36% of males studied social studies, only 32% of females did so. The amount of the boys studying engineering studies was twice as high as that for girls at higher education level in Canada in the year 2009.
