The graph below shows the power generation capacity of Germany from 2008 to 2014

The line grap compares five different sources regarding electricity production that German government opted for during a period of 6 years, commencing from 2008. Units are measured in gigawatts.
In general, there was an upward tendency in renewable sources, namely wind and solar, while the opposite was true to non-renewable energy such as nuclear power, coal and oil. Thereby, there was less dependence on non-renewable energy as the main sources of power production.
Starting at around 5 in 2008, the figure of energy generated by solar soared eightfold in 2012, and then continuously rose gradually to nearly 50 in the final year. Similarly, before increasing significantly from a slight 30 in 2012 to nearly 55 at the end of the period, with a surge by 20 between 2011 and 2012, electricity generated by wind power began at over 10 in the initial year, in which wind surpassed coal as the predominant energy sources.
Coal commenced at 30 as Germany preferred source of power, followed by nuclear power at 10 and oil at roughly 5. They stabilized at the same level over a period from 2008 to 2010 before dropping insignificantly to 20, 10 and 5 respectively in the last year.
