The given line chart illustrates the percentage of the population, categorised in 4 different countries, namely Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, from 1970, in ten-year intervals.
Overall, 4 cities had a tendency to be upward. It is also worth pointing out that the population in Malaysia will be estimated to become a city overcrowded in 2040.
To begin with, the percentages of population in Malaysia stood at roughly 30%, which was higher than that of Indonesia by about 2 times. In the next 2 decades, it is reported that population in both countries (Malaysia and Indonesia) witnessed a slight go up, reaching a peak (at around 46% and 20%,respectively). Up to now, the proportions of overcrowded in Malaysia and Indonesia have experienced a dramatical increase (at nearly 77% and 50%, accordingly). In the future, it is foreseen that the figure for Malaysia will become most population and Indonesia will turn to be the second overcrowded country.
Turning to the other set of data, there were about 31% of population in Philippines, which was higher than that of Thailand by approximately 10%. Until now, the figure for population in Malaysia have inclined minimally, despite a significant rise in 1990. Meanwhile, the figure for overcrowded in Thailand have inclined slightly and remained the same point until 2023. Moreover, both countries are predicted to rise minimally in 2040.
