The line graph compares the USA and China in terms of the number of yearly births from 1920 to 2000
Generally, the data reveals distinct patterns in both countries' birth rates over the course of 80 years. However, from 1960 onward, the birth rates in both countries followed a downward trend, which the USA's was higher in the end
In detail, both China and the USA had similar birth rates, standing at 10 in 1920. By 1940, the figure for China significantly decreased by half, at 5, while the USA witnessed a modest increase to about 12. SubsequenTly, during the period from 1940 to 1945, the USA birth rate fell to under 5, whereas the China's remained unchanged at 5 until 1945.
The USA, on the other hand, witnessed a recovery in its birth rate to exactly 25 after 5 years but China drastically jumped to 20, surpassing the USA. Conversely, from 1960 onward, the USA birth rate gradually declined to around 6 in 2000, which was the same trajectory as China but to a greater extent, reaching merely 3.
