The charts below show the proportion of people’s spending on different commodities and services in a particular European country in 1998 and in 2008.
The two pie charts illustrate how much money consumers spent on distinctive goods and services in a European nation from 1998 to 2008.
It is noticeable that clothing and housing is two first-choice purchases for residents in this country in 1998. However, housing accounts for the vast majority of people’s spending commodities in 2008. In addition, with the development of society, the percentage of people’s spending on some commodities increased, the opposite was true for services.
In 1998, housing and clothing accounted for 22% and 32% of total people’s expenditure. By contrast, a mere 8% and 7% of total money spent on food and luxury goods. Moreover, the percentage of transportation and entertainment made up around 13% and 18% respectively.
Over 10 years, such dramatic differences are seen when we compare the figures for housing and clothing. While the rate of total spending on housing increased by 10%, th figure for clothing decreased by 20%. Meanwhile, the same proportion of food and luxury goods (17%) is spent. While the spending on amuesement accounts for 16% of people’s spending, but only 6% of people’s spending on transportation respectively.
