The least popular types of energy sources were nuclear and hydroelectric power, each constituting less than 10 percent.

By the 1990s, the landscape had slightly evolved. Despite a decrease of 8 percent, oil remained the primary energy source. The popularity of natural gas and coal remained fairly stable, changing by only 1 percent in comparison to the previous decade. Nuclear and hydroelectric power sources continued to be less favored, with shares of 10 and 5 percent respectively
