Overview, it is obvious that the number of Japanese traveling abroad increased to varying degree except 1991 with the decline in number of Japanese visitors. Additionally, the proportion of Japanese visiting to Australia fluctuated consistently in the period of 10 years.
Looking closely at the bar chart, there was roughly 5 million Japanese traveling abroad in 1985 and rose to just over 7 million people in Japan traveling internationally. In 1990, the figure for traveling abroad Japanese increased to a double figure compared to the figure in 1985, at over 10% and declined to just over 10% in 1991. Notably, the number of Japanese having international trip grew to the same figure (at 12%) and finally reached a peak at approximately 15% in 1995.
According to the line chart, the percentage of Japanese choosing Australia as a destination to travel started at 2% in 1985, its figure then witnessed a substantial increase to roughly 5% in 1989 and fell to just over 4% in 1990. From 1990 onward, the ratio of Japanese traveling to Australian ranged from about 5% to 6%.
