The pie charts depict the electricity generation of Germany and France from all sources and renewables for the year 2009.

Overall,it is immediately apparent from the charts that in the year 2009,Germany generated 560 Billion KWh of electricity whereas,France generated 510 Billion KWh. Consequently,Germany exceeded France.

In 2009,the electricity generation was dominated by conventional thermal in Germany making up over half in France it was accounted minimal of 10.3%. The remaining percentage were shared between renewables and nuclear. In Germany,nuclear makes 23 percent and interestingly in France it is the largest source as shown in the large slice of 76 percent. There was not much difference in the renewables attributed 17.4 and 13.7% in Germany and France respectively.

Moving on to renewables,In Germany wind and biomass comprises the maximum totalling around 75% which was far higher than hydroelectric(17.7%) and solar(6.1%). However,the situation was very different in France,hydroelectric made up 80.5% of renewable electricity and remaining 20% making up by biomass,wind energy,solar energy.
