Do you think that social media alienates people or connects them?
Social networking enjoying its popularity among all groups of people worldwide. However, psychologists have concluded it as a both positive and negative impact on humans. This essay will discuss how social media both estrange and connects people.
To start with, social media plays an important role in connecting people irrespective of places. Through these networking sites one can easily get connected to anyone on this planet. Several social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram etc helps people to get connected with their old school mates which was quite impossible kind of thing earlier. Thus, these mediums allow individuals to be in touch with their near and dear ones with ease.
Having said that, social media does have certain hidden pitfalls as well. Sometimes, these sources impact someone's life in a negative way, for instance, being connected with someone on these networking sites which is quite a virtual connection, leave someone with a feeling of loneliness. People's emotions get adversely affected by down feeling sometimes. As a result, most of the people find themselves detached from the real world.
This essay discussed how social networking sites makes people feel both connected with their friends or relatives and it also makes one feel isolated from the rest of the world. In my opinion, social media helps in connecting people more than alienating them.
