Many people have a close relationship with their pets. These people treat their birds, cats, or other animals like members of their family.

In your opinion, are such relationships good? Why or why not? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Shall we treat pets as family members? Some peolpe believe that doing so we are spoiling these pets and exerting more effort in the wrong direction. However, I think that pets should be treated as family members. I believe so because treating them well will make us learn a lot of things, make the pets faithful to us and at the same time keep them safe. These reasons are discussed in detail in the following paragraphs.

Firstly, the good treatment of pets is useful to us as we learn many things when we treat them well. As an example, my father brought me a dog when I was young. It was called "Lacy". I used to take care of him, feed him, bath him and play with him. This was useful to me as well as it made me learn how to carry responsibility at an early age. Thus, If I had not treated "Lacy" as a family member, I would not have learned the "respsonsibility" lesson at an early age.

Secondly, The pets are of great use to us. This dog "Lacy" was very helpful in guarding our house and protecting it at night. Once there was a thief who was walking at late night near our home. He tried to climb up the fence. The moment he was on the top of the fence, "Lacy" saw him and began to bark and ran towards him. The theif fell down the fence and ran away. Thanks to "Lacy" for protecting us. This small story confirms that the more we take care of our pets, the more they are faithful and useful to us.

Last but not least, I think that if we do not treat the pets like family members, they will not stay with us and go to the outside world where they are not safe. I remember once I was very busy to the extent that I did not take care of "Lacy". This cause him to leave home and look for another person to look after. I realized that I was wrong when I ignored him. I looked for him everywhere until I found him in a miserable status. I promised him not to do that again. Thus, If we treat our pets well and take care of them, they will stay with us and they will remain safe.

As a conclusion, the more we take care of our pets, the more we learn, the more they are useful and faithful to us and the more they are safe.
