The bar chart illustrates the proportion of the different age groups of the UK citizens spending money to charity in 1990 and 2010.

A glance at the chart indicates that while there were increasing proportions of people in 2 older age groups, 51-60 and over 60, the figures for younger donors declined by varying degrees after 20 years. Also, the percentage of 18-25-year-olds were significantly smaller than others in both surveyed years.

In details, in 1990, the largest proportion of UK residents donating money to charity was found in the 36-50 age group, at 43%, which was followed by that for the 51-65-year-olds at a little over one third. In contrast, there were only 17% of the youngest age group, 18-25, making donations. The proportions of donors among the 26-35 and over 65 age groups were comparable, standing at 31% and 32%, respectively.

After 2 decades, the percentage for the 51-65 age group increased by almost 5% to become the highest figure in 2010. The proportion of donators aged between 36-50, however, declined slightly to 35%, which was also the figure for the over sixties after a small rise. Lastly, the percentage of the 26 to 35 age group experienced a 7% drop to 24%, which was still about 3 times larger than that for donors aged 18-25.
