Nokia was the largest contributor in the mobile phone industry. With its production occupied approximately one-third of the total shares in both years, a considerable growth from 32.5% in 2005 to 35% in 2006 was witnessed in the annual report. Likewise, second in terms of possession of global market is Motorola, in which 17.1% in 2005 and a higher 21.1% in 2006 of global mobile devices were delivered from this brand.
By contrast, an insignificant decline from 12.7% to 11.8% was found in Samsung’s proportion, while both Sony Ericsson and L.G. retained their shares in somewhere at the vicinity of 6.5% in both years. A slump, however, was witnessed in BenQ Mobile. The overall production from BenQ Mobile accounting for 4.9% of global market in 2005 plunged to a low of 2.4% in 2006. The remaining shares picked up by smaller brands stood at a meagre 19.2% and 16.2% in the year of 2005 and 2006 respectively.
