The reading passage and the lecture are both about cons and pros of the hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine. The author of the reading believes that hydrogen will become the best constitution for the oil fuel. The lecturer considers that the statements made in the reading passage are too optimistic about the future of the hydrogen-based engines, and she reinforces her opinion by making several examples.
First of all, hydrogen is presented in all compounds, but it's hard to produce as a pure element. The lecturer asserts that the hydrogen is the well-presented resource, but in the pure liquid form, it has an extremely low temperature. Consequently, due to that, there are some difficulties in manufacturing, storing and transporting of the hydrogen.
The subsequent lecturer argument is related to statement made in the passage, that using hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine will cause the decline of pollution. She disputes this by claiming that the process of purification and synthesis of hydrogen from the coal and oil will pollute the atmosphere more than the novel hydrogen-based fuel-cell engines. Thus, the hydrogen manufacturing process will dramatically increase pollution.
Finally, in the reading passage is denoted that the hydrogen fuel will be cheaper than the oil fuel. However, the lecturer claims that the engines consisted of the expensive platinum material will cost much more money than the usual oil-based engines. Besides, she states that the manufacturing procedure for hydrogen is going to be pricey as well.
