Although both the reading and listening passage deal with the same topic :the doubt whether Rembrandt was the true artist of his paintings or not, their pperspective are different. While the author of the reading believes that Remdant is not the one who create the paintings, the lecturer casts doubt ont he writer's idea. He claims that Remdant is a great artist by painting his masterpieces.
The first point made in the reading is that there is something inconsistent about the woman's clothes in the portrait. The article notes that the woman could not afford a luxurious fur coat because of her condition as a servant. On the other hand, the lecturer contradicts the writer's idea by asserting that there is no illogical in this fur collar. Moreover, he argues that this paintings was painted one hundred years after the creation of the painting. Therefore, letting the woman wear luxurious fur coat makes her look like a fomal lady.
Another point that the reading emphasizes is the light and shadow in the paintings. It is mentioned that the face of the woman is illuminated by light, and below the face is dark fur collar. However, the lecturer refutes this argument and claims that the original painting looks realistic with Rembrandt's usage of simple color and light for face.
The last point made in the reading is that the back of the painting was made by glued wood panel which could not happen at that time. The article established that although Rembrandt painted on wood panel, there is no record about his paintings on pannel guled together. On the contrary, the lecturer claims that the wood panel in Rembrandt's painting is reasonanle. He puts forth the idea by a research which found that Rembrandt's paintingwere created on same piece of trees. Besides, gluing wood panel together not only enlarged the paintings but also made it more valuable.
