Buying things on the Internet, such as books, air tickets and groceries, is becoming more and more popular. Do the advantages of shopping in this way outweigh the disadvantages?
Thanks to the Internet boom and the development of technologies, online shopping for such things like books, air tickets and groceries has been very popular these days. While few masses opine that the traditional shopping is more practical and more effective, I am still of the opinion that e-commerce does bring much more benefits rather than problems to consumers.
One of the huge advantages that online shopping offers is first and foremost convenience. Consumers can shop from the comforts of their own houses, their workplaces or virtually anywhere at their own schedule. This absolutely suits with the modern and fast-paced life today in which people do not often have enough time for in-store shopping. Secondly, goods from online retailers are usually cheaper than physical stores as online businesses have no need for payment of such things like the rent for business premises, tax, etc. On the plus side, buyers are also easier to access to price comparison from different suppliers and to seek for reviews over products that they are interested in. Lastly, there is a maximum of amount of choices for buyers to pick up a product via the Internet either from internal markets or from international suppliers.
As regards downsides from shopping online, consumers have no chances to physically check the products before the purchase. This can result in wrong or damaged products for a reason that online traders are in complete control over informations and images of the products. Besides, buying things through the Internet usually comes up with late delivery or even no delivery at all.
To conclude, apart from some unexpected problems that are possibly solved with a better management, the advantages coming from shopping online are much greater than the disadvantages.
