TPO 40 - Integrated Writing Task
n this set materials, the reading passage state that human would not be living on the Venus for 3 main reasons. On the other hand, the listening section brings into question the reading by providing different reasons (and examples).
First of all, the reading passage indicates that atmospheric pressure at Venus' surface is greater than the earth; hence, the human would not be living on the venues. In contrast, the problem of upper pressure can solve. If people go 50km up to the surface, the atmospheric pressure becomes equal as the surface.
Secondly, the reading argues that water and oxygen are not found in the Venus and only carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid are available. Conversely, what the lecturer believes is different. He points that we can produce water and oxygen by doing some chemical process on the CO2 and sulfuric acid.
Finally, according to the reading, the level of sunlight that reached Venus's surface is really low, because most of them are reflected by carbon dioxide of Venus's clouds. As a result, the human cannot produce their required electricity out of sunlight. However, the professor says that these clouds are not very thick, so some sunlight can reach Venus's surface and also scientists can utilize the reflection of sunlight to produce electricity.
