The proportion of people aged 65 and above between 1940 and 2040 in Japan, Sweden and USA is shown by the given line graph.
Overall, the statistics illustrated a rising trend starting from 1940 to 2000 which will continue till 2040. The percentage of older people increased in the USA and Sweden following a fluctuating trend. However, in Japan it declined till the year 1980 before it surged. Over the century (1940 to 2040) the proportion is predicted to hike in all the countries.
More specifically, the percentage of elder people started at around 5% and 9% in USA and Sweden respectively. It then experienced a gradual rise before meeting at 14% for both of the countries in the year 1990. Whilst the proportion will be plateaued in the USA, it will rise significantly by 6% before receding to 19% in Sweden in 2020. In the year 2040, the number of aged people will increase to about 25% in Sweden and to 24% in USA. Comparatively, the data was a meagre that is 5% in 1940 in Japan. Then it decreased slowly before reaching a peak of 27% in 2040.
To sum up, the proportion of people aged 65 and above expanded in the given time period and will follow a same trend in the future.
